Museums in and around Clifton

Bosque Memorial Museum - Clifton

The Bosque Museum began in 1924 and is one of the oldest continuing cultural institutions in the City of Clifton. The museum has significant collections of regional and national importance. Major collections include its Ancient Man artifacts, archaic and historic Indian artifacts, early firearm collection, Texas-Norwegian immigrant collection and archive, Norwegian book collection, Texas Primitive Furniture, photography archives, and early education in Bosque County. This past year the museum hosted 6,500 visitors and received recognition in numerous statewide newspaper and magazine publications. The museum hosts a continuing speaker's series throughout the year and is an important source of continuing educational experiences in the community. Two major lectures are held each year (average of 125 - 150 people) as well as three to four smaller speakers' forums on topics of more limited appeal.

Featuring a full marching band, jazz band, ensemble and solo groups, the band offers free concerts to the community in winter and spring. Local churches feature musical and choral presentations throughout the year.

Clifton Main Street offers residents free outdoor concerts during Plaza Nights, held in the center of town at Heritage Plaza during the summer months.

McLennan Community College, Baylor University, and Hill College host a variety of musical and choral performances.

Bosque Arts Center

The Bosque Arts Center (formerly the Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Arts) - serving the area with visual and performing arts programs since 1982.

Tin Building Theatre

The Bosque Arts Center is home to the Tin Building Theatre Company which provides live stage productions - dinner theatres and regular performances - throughout the year. Dinner theatres are very popular in the community and season ticket patrons can take advantage of early reservations. Matinees and regular evening performances for each play provide community members with many opportunities for enjoying the theatre. The annual July 4th Melodrama is a summer favorite, presented to all comers free of charge, as an appreciation of community support for the theatre.

Regional Theatre Opportunities

Waco Civic Theater, McLennan Community College, Baylor University, and Hill College offer performances year-round.
