Parks and Recreation

The Clifton area has many recreational opportunities including state/regional parks, public parks, arts and music. The City also offers great youth sports programs.

Community Parks

Clifton maintains more than 200 acres of land in public parks. The parks feature tennis courts, swimming pool, and three kiddie areas with slides, swings and other recreational equipment. The largest, City Park, runs along the Bosque River and hosts picnic area, a gazebo, a softball field, an area for soccer, a kiddie play area, and walking/nature trails. The local Optimists Club is working with youth to fund a future skateboard park.

City Park

Clifton's City Park borders the Bosque River and extends north and south from FM 219. This park retains portions of the original native stone structure built in 1933-1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. A historical marker featuring the Old Mill is located near the new dam.

Facilities: City Park features an open air gazebo and a large building originally built by the National Guard as an armory. The gazebo can be rented for parties and other special events from the City of Clifton. The park also features RV hookups which are rented from the American Legion (also located in the park).

Activities: Within the park is a children's playground, sand volleyball courts, basketball goals, picnic tables and river access for fishing.

Olsen Park

Address: 1103 N. Key Street (FM 3220)

Activities: Olsen Park features a playground, a 1/3 mile walking trail, swimming pool, and kiddie pool. The pool is open regular hours in the summer, and several pool activities are offered including swimming lessons and water aerobics. The pool is run by the City of Clifton and may be rented in the evenings for private parties. The City Pool also offers a variety of classes including Water Aerobics and Senior Swim.

Dahl Park is located off 3rd Street, and is equipped with a playground, a basketball court, and several picnic tables.
