Safety

Clifton is a great safe place to live! For the 2004 period in the http://www.melissadata.com/ site referenced, Clifton's index of 209 crimes per 10,000 placed it well below the state average of 608 per 10,000, and far below 80% of the state average that year. Had Clifton been in the table, our crime index would have been lower than 181 of the 198 cities listed there! The crime index for 2006 dropped to 182 per 10,000, or 13% below the 2004 reporting period according to the latest information available from the Texas Department of Public Safety Web site on Crime Statistics at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/a...es/crimestatistics.htm#2006 for 2006.

The City is protected by the Clifton Police Department and the Bosque County Sheriff.
