Community

The City of Clifton captures the unique spirit of its residents, its business community, its organizations, and the city government itself, all working to lead Clifton to a prosperous and vibrant future. The city seeks to become an even more appealing, livable, and well-managed community, attractive not only to retirees but for residents of all ages.

Growth

The US 2000 Census recorded a population of 3,542, which had grown some 7.1% to the 3,795 estimated by the Texas State Data Center as of January 1, 2008. Outlying rural areas contribute another 3,800 who'll answer "Clifton" when asked where they live, work and shop.

Goodall-Witcher Healthcare Foundation and the Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Inc. are both completing large building/expansion projects. The goals of the construction include providing facilities and services that will continue to meet the health and needs of our growing community. The Goodall-Witcher Project is divided into three phases. The first phase is the construction of a new Clifton Medical Clinic that will provide patient examination space for 12 medical providers. The second phase is the renovation of major areas of the hospital - outpatient Laboratory, Radiology, Emergency Department, and the adjacent Admitting Office. The third phase is the renovation of the Nursing Facility to convert two small areas to a larger dining and recreation area and to relocate the administrative and nursing offices for easier access to residents and visitors.

The Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home has recently completed a new 96 bed nursing facility, a 32 bed dementia care facility, a 24 apartment Type B assisted living facility and an administration building for program operations and community service offices such as Hospice Sunset. This project benefits the community by expanding the number of assisted living units.

The two projects generated over $25 million dollars of reinvestment into the community. These investments greatly impact the quality of life for our community and surrounding area.

Main Street City

Clifton was designated a national "Main Street City" back in 1995. Since then, date our Main Street Program along with service organizations throughout the community has overseen over $900,000 in beautification projects. More...

Neighboring Communities

The City of Clifton works closely with its neighbors to develop solutions to common problems and needs. Two agreements have recently been made with our neighboring communities. The incorporated Cities in Bosque County have signed an Inter-local agreement that assures ambulance services for all communities in Bosque County. Clifton and Meridian have completed a pipeline agreement enables Clifton to store and treat Bosque River water that will be piped to Meridian to ensure the vitality of our neighboring city.

Government Agencies

Clifton actively participates in the Heart of Texas Council of Governments, Brazos River Planning Board, the Bosque County Appraisal District, and other governmental and quasi-governmental planning agencies. Clifton also coordinates with the Department of Emergency Management and continues with a multi-development plan for coordination and sharing resources, equipment and manpower throughout our region.

Clifton is also fortunate to be represented on two of the Heritage Trails through the Texas Historical Commission. We work closely with each trail and co-op efforts to promote our community and the region.
